TELEVES TV antenna socket replacement

Replacement of the Televés TV socket, next to the Legrand mechanism, with a Televés TV socket model next to the Schneider UNICA series mechanism.

The installed TV socket works perfectly, but when changing the home's mechanisms after 27 years of use, switching from the Legrand model to the Schneider UNICA model, the TV socket remains TELEVES.

When you cannot find the specific TV wall outlet for a series at a large home improvement center, and only find the cover plate (e.g., Schneider UNICA series mechanisms), it is because it uses a mechanism from another manufacturer—TELEVÉS in this case—which is very easy to replace and has been improved compared to the old one.

You only need to take into account whether it should be an INTERMEDIATE OUTLET (cable input – output) or a terminal line outlet, as is the one I am using in this case.

It is very important that these outlets have clean, shiny contacts and that there is no looseness in the connectors that attach to them.

The teardown for this socket model is very simple: remove the 2 mounting screws for the wall box (yellow arrows), remove the screw for the cable clamp cover (blue arrow), and pull out the cable.

If we have enough cable, we cut off the tip to get "clean copper" and strip about 4 mm from the end (the "CORE" wire). We peel back the outer sheath to release the mesh, then pull it back over the cable body.

Insert the central CORE wire into the TV port on the new socket and pull slightly to check that it is secured. Position the mesh so it has the largest possible contact surface, close the cover, and tighten the screw.

Check if the frame fits perfectly; in this case it does not, since the 4 attachment points must be slightly trimmed as they do not align with the new TELEVES socket (we see that it remains somewhat separated from the wall, even if we attach the decorative front cover with the fastening screw).

Slightly trim the 4 protruding anchors so that the frame sits properly.

Once the frame is attached to the wall, we can place the front trim and the fixing screw.
