Sunny Health & Fitness SF-B1423 Pedal Replacement

Introduction

If your SF-B1423 Sunny Health & Fitness Bike is not functional due to a broken or faulty pedal, use this guide to perform a pedal replacement.

The pedal is arguably the most critical part on a stationary bike; a bike isn't much good without functioning pedals! If the pedal breaks, it can cause severe damage or injury to the user. This specific model requires a 16 mm bolt pedal for replacement. If the pedal arm threads seem stripped please follow How to Fix a Cross Thread or Stripped Hole in Aluminum.

Be mindful not to touch any sharp edges of the broken pedal, as the debris can cause injury.

What you need

    • Wrap a cloth around the pedal hold it tight, preventing any movement.

    • Use an adjustable wrench to rotate the hex nut on the backside of the pedal arm clockwise until loose.

    • When the hex nut is loose, remove it by hand.

    • Use the spanner to rotate the interior pedal bolt clockwise.

    • Remove the pedal.

    • Use the cloth to clean any residue from the pedal arm.

    • Use the spanner to fasten the replacement pedal by rotating the pedal bolt counterclockwise.

    • Thread the hex nut on the backside of the pedal arm.

    • Use the adjustable wrench to fasten the hex nut by rotating counter-clockwise.
