Introduction
If your Stratocaster electric guitar has intermittent sound loss when playing or complete signal loss when playing on certain switch settings, use this guide to fix the loose switch wire inside the guitar. A switch wire connection can become loose or fully disconnected due to normal wear and tear or physical damage, and can lead to several issues, including but not limited to sound loss.
If the loose/disconnected wire is damaged, it may need to be replaced, in which case it is important to use the correct gauge wire that is compatible with your guitar. Make sure to use a soldering iron with adjustable temperature control for clean and solid joints. Always solder in a well-ventilated area to avoid harmful exposure to fumes.
Before beginning, make sure the electric guitar is powered off and disconnected from any external power source.
If the issue persists, then the whole switch may need to be replaced instead, which should be done according to the new switch's schematic.
