This guide is awesome.

I ordered the usb charging port and the back cover adhesive.

I used a hairdryer and a suction sucker to open my phone and removed the port without removing the battery. My port was really dirty inside and was poorly connected to the motherboard, so after cleaning it (with an earring hook

Does anyone know if this will fix the charging port defect of solder getting too hot on this phone and not charging (I assume it’s something w/ the solder)? I bought this phone new on ebay and about 3 - 4 months later, the phone started having charging issues. Now it only charges if I use a large, strategically positioned binder clip and a piece of cardboard.

For about 3 months, we couldn’t even turn on or charge the phone; I eventually hacked around this with a large, strategically placed binder clip, two note cards, and a 5v 3amp motorola usb charger, but it’s naturally not an ideal solution. Not all USB chargers seemed to work; one of the original charger’s prongs came off in the outlet the first week of ownership!

My wife ended up getting a different phone since charging seems to be a basic function of a phone. Oddly, I can’t even select this phone model (does not appear to exist) on Sony’s site to request warranty support.
