Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P52 Buttons Replacement

What you need

  1. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P52 Buttons Replacement, Outer Case: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Open the battery compartment and remove the batteries.

    • Remove all of the visible screws on the outside of the case.

    • There should be three of them that are all easily located.

    • Open the memory card compartment.

    • Remove the screw next to the memory card slot.

    • Pull apart the front and back cover pieces carefully.

    • The front cover should come completely free with little effort.

    • The back cover will still be attached to the circuit board.

    • Simultaneously unclip all of the clips holding in the circuitry. Remove the back case.

    • The circuitry will still be connected to the back case by ribbon cables.

    • Open the case as shown.

    • Unclip the clip holding the ribbon cable in.

    • Other ribbon cables might not have a clips.

    • Pull the ribbon cable out.

    • Remove the 7 screws on the back side of the case, as shown in the picture.

    • Remove the metal plate.

    • Remove the LCD plate, ribbon cables, and LCD display.

    • As you remove the backing you will see the LCD plate. It is a small ribbon cabled plate that is attached to the camera display.

    • Use extreme caution when removing the LCD plate, and be careful not to damage the display.

    • Watch out for loose buttons that may fall out. Keep all parts separate and organized.

    • On the back cover you will have access to the button display. Buttons can simply be grabbed and placed with your finger. Use this opportunity to clean any potentially dirty buttons or replace missing or damaged buttons.

    • Clean or replace the damaged buttons as needed.

    • Methods for cleaning include canned air spray or alcoholic cleaning fluid specialized for electronics.
