    • To begin the repair remove the protective casing. (This removal may vary with different lawnmowers.)

    • Locate the recoil housing cap.

    • Carefully remove the housing cap. (Removal may vary)

    • After removing the recoil, unscrew the cap that holds the pulley to the recoil starter housing.

    • Untie the knot in the rope and slide it out of the housing.

    • With this particular model there is a middle lock piece. Use a socket wrench to unscrew and release the coil.

    • Once unscrewed, remove the metal piece which releases the tension on the coil.

    • At this point add the new coil to the housing base. Snap the coil into position where the old on was.
