Introduction
This guide will show how to take apart and repair the small engine recoil starter on a lawn mower.
What you need

To begin the repair remove the protective casing. (This removal may vary with different lawnmowers.)

After removing the recoil, unscrew the cap that holds the pulley to the recoil starter housing.

With this particular model there is a middle lock piece. Use a socket wrench to unscrew and release the coil.

Once unscrewed, remove the metal piece which releases the tension on the coil.

At this point add the new coil to the housing base. Snap the coil into position where the old on was.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
