    • This particular model is HB76A1560S, but the guide may aply to other. I believe similar ovens are sold under the brand Bosch.

    • See guidelines in the attached PDF document

    • As per the PDF document: bring the oven into test-mode and start stepping through each menu

    • Identify at which test step the problem occurs and the house HFI relay is triggered

    • (Dangerous!) Remove the backpart, and detach the wires to the heating elements one by one, until the above test step is no longer triggering the HFI relay. Take care to neither cause short circuit nor get yourself electricuted... You probably want to disconnect the oven each time you detach a wire

  2. Siemens oven HB76A1560 troubleshooting: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • Assuming you now know which circuit that is causing the problem: have a look under the toppart. In my case the problem originated from the control PCB

    • After probing the PCB with a multimeter, I concluded that the relay marked 'B' must be defect. In fact, that realy was visually damaged. It looked like a spark had burned a hole in its plastic housing

    • Order a new relay and solder it in

    • Re-run the test program, and verify that the oven is no longer triggering the HFI relay

    • April 2015 I replaced relay B. May 2018 I replaced relay C. May 2020 I replaced relay D.

Any one that could guid me to the details of the two smd components after the relay A output? This is the lamp control relay.. they are visual defekt.. confensator/diode/resistor.? And value ?

I did this repair back in April 2015…. and now again today, 20th May 2018. It was the same part causing problems this time (relay ‘B’ in my document), but since that particular relay was already a used part, I hope the brand new replacement relay will last a bit longer.

Excellent article LarsWH!

I have this problem with the same control board (4th relay from the left next to ‘C’). I will also attempt the repair and will order a replacement relay. However I cannot get an exact match. I can match ‘HF3FD 009-H3F(576)’ - these appear to be the important codes. However there is a 4 character code at the bottom of the Relay (JI22). I’m not sure if this is important and it’s not mentioned in the PDF attached to your post. Any advice welcome! - Thanks, Jon

Thanks a lot Jon :-)

I am pretty sure that the ‘sugear cube relay’ you have found is OK. The additional code is probably just a manufacturing batch code (one of my remaining relays actually says ‘JK36D’…).

Good luck with the reapair and be carefull with that mains stuff.

Hej Lars

Mvh. Christian

Hi

If you cannot get hold of a HF3FD relay a Finder 36.11.9.009.43 will also Work.  My Bosch oven is now working again

Thank to Lars for his Work :)

Hej Lars.

Lars

thanks for guide. I saw the rely failing by turning main fuse back in. when trying to start the owen, it shorted, and a spark was seen inside B. i dis-soldered it and replaced by C. currently waiting for replacements from china.

btw. the test mode was the two direction arrows next to wheel for 3 sec. beep. then(without releasing) also press start. beep. turn wheel for service mode.

go to eprom and select

try different modes to see when power fails.

thanks again for guide.

Hello,

I have HB78AU570, but the control board looks similar :-). I made this repair already 3 times (first in September 2016, it was 3 weeks after the guarantee ended). But when the last relay was destroyed, the oven didn’t heat at all. I realized that the relays controlling the heating didn’t switch. But the other relays (light, fans) worked properly. I cannot post a picture, I describe it following your photo. All the upper row except relay “A“ is used for heating. Let me say that the other relays in upper row has letters D, E, F and G. Relays B, C, “D” and “E“ is used for each heat section and relays F and G are used for control all heating sections as “second level“. It means when some of the relays B, C, D and E is destroyed (usually it is switched on when destroyed), the heating is safely switched off via these F and G relays. The third level of security is the fact that the coil voltage for these relays (B, C, D, E, F, G) is also controlled by processor.

… continued in next post…

zbysa - Reply

I realized it when I started to draw the schematic diagram according to PCB. When I measured the coil voltage supply path, I found one little transistor which could be destroyed as well. So I tried to change it with a new one (it was BC807-25) and voilà - the oven start to heat again :-). It was really hard, because the transistor is 3 mm long and the contacts have less than 0,5 mm, but this was the only chance…

So I recommend to predict when the relays could be destroyed again and change it in advance… ;-) I already changed the relays B, C and D. If you are interested in, I can send you the photos via email and you can add it to your post.

Hi Zbysek,

Good to hear you managed to fix it - multiple times :-) I think it is best if you publish your pictures yourself. I will be happy to link to your pictures/instructions if you send me a link.

I have “only” done the repair twice, but I make sure to keep a spare relay - just in case. Next time I buy an oven, I will make sure that I know how to bring it into test-mode, before buying it. Tracking down problems is just so much easier when you can control things manually.

Hej Lasse.

Keld List Laursen - Reply

Hej Keld,

Excellent guide! I only found it after having diagnosed my own oven and was searching for a new relay however. So I'll add my own diagnostic process and add some search optimizations.

Problem: When selecting a program and then setting the heat level, the main breaker would trip when the heating started (after about 5 sec.).

Diagnostics: I took the oven apart and checked the circuits etc. visually, but could see nothing wrong. I then turned on the oven with the top cover off (be careful!), and could see a bright flash form one of the relays on the power control board at the exact same time as the breaker tripping.

Measurement with a multimeter showed that the heaters were connected to ground. I isolated this by disconnecting wires to be the same relay on the power control board.

Solution: Desolder the relay and solder in a new one. They were way too expensive locally (dane as well) so I ordered one on ebay in France and another handful from Aliexpress just to have some spares.

Here is a link to the power control board in my oven, which is a bit different from OP.

And my own which strangely is not in the list: Siemens HB73A1640S

JBOR -

Thanks JBOR.

What an impressive list. I am sure this will help more people find these instructions :-)

It is a good idea to keep a few relays spare - I have had to do this repair a few times. Be aware that relays from Aliexpress may very well be salvaged parts - perhaps from Siemens ovens :-(

LarsWH -

Hejsa Lars

Super god guide.

Per Have -

Hi Per and @larswh
Thanks for a great guide to Lars and some great photos to Per.

I have an identical model which Per Have has described with the exact same problem (also a dane here).

I was worried that my oven was connected in a way, which required an electrician to disconnect it, but after having pulled out the oven, I found that the cable clicks out from the oven perfectly fine, so no need for an electrician.

Esben Rasmussen -

Quick question: How do you disconnect the wires from the control board?

I haven't tried it before and I am worried I might break something if I apply too much force in the wronge direction.

Esben Rasmussen -

Hello, I have a problem with the oven, it gives me error 80 / as in the picture with the arrow, I replaced all three relays B, C and D, but again the same problem, when the oven heats up to a certain temperature after about 10 to 15 minutes, it switches off and gives 80 with an up arrow, please help

Nenad

Nenad Radojicic - Reply

I think your problem is different. In my case I lost the light in the entire house when the faulty relay was triggered.

I think the 80 in my picture is just a temperature-limit for the thermometer that can be attached - not an error code. The socket for the temperature sensor (inside the oven) can get dirty and cause wrong readings. Every now and then I have to clean inside the socket with cotton swaps soaked in isopropyl alcohol. Also try running a few tests with the thermometer attached and detached, and make sure it is working.

If the problem persists, make sure you run the oven in test-mode (as described in the document above), and find which step is triggering the problem. Good luck.

LarsWH -

Thanks for the help, you were right, it's still the thermometer from the oven, I just unplugged it from the stove and now everything is fine, I haven't tried the needle thermometer yet

Thanks

Hej @esben_r

God arbejdslyst 👍

Per Have - Reply

Tak for svar Per.

Esben Rasmussen -

Hi, thank you for sharing your work. I think I might have a similar problem. Once I switch on the oven, all electricity in the house is gone (so clock works when oven is connected, but once you switch the oven on the problem arises).

I read that often, it is one of the heating elements that causes the problem. How can you tell whether it is the heating element instead of the relay?

I have disconnected the ring heating element (back ventilator) -> problem remains

I have disconnected all the wires of the top element -> problem remains

I also read in your post that you read out with multimeter which one of the relays was causing a problem, can you please explain how that is done?

Thank you very much in advance!

Bart

Bart Vanbellinghen - Reply

Hi Bart,

I do not know how to check the heating elements. Possibly just disconnect each element and use a multi-meter to check if one of them has connection to ground.

With the top part taken of (be careful not to get yourself electrocuted...) and the lights in the room low, I could see some of the the relays light up, when a small spark is generated inside. While shifting through the test programs, I could then identify which relay that 'lid up' at the same time as the the entire house went dark.

The spark from the failing relay was brighter than that of the others, and when looking closer it also had a small brown spot and a hole. I think I only used the multi-meter after I had identified the suspected relay. I simply checked if the resistance between the various pins was similar to some of the neighboring relays, and it clearly was not (but as it was still soldered in the PCB there could be other reasons for that)

Good luck with the repair

Lars

LarsWH -

Hi Bart.

Have you done a visual inspection of your relays. I could clearly see which relay was faulty. It was slightly melted and discolored.

Sincerely. Per Have
