Introduction

This guide will show how to remove the covers from the underside of the laptop, remove the battery, and replace it with the new battery.

  1. Before beginning, make sure the laptop is completely powered off and it is not being charged via the power cord.

    • Remove the single 6.7 mm Phillips 00 screw holding the hard drive cover in place.

  2. Pry off and remove the hard drive cover.

  3. Remove the remaining screws holding the back cover in place: Six are 4.0 mm Phillips 00 screws

    • Seven 6.7 mm Phillips 00 screws

  5. Remove the two rubber pads concealing the final bottom case screws. Remove the 4 mm Phillips 00 screws found under these pads.

  6. There are clips along the edges of the back cover that hold it in place. Be careful not to break these. Remove the entire rest of the back cover.

  7. Remove the tape holding the wires in place. Remove the tape holding the wires in place.

  8. Remove the following Phillips 00 screws securing the battery:

    • Four 4.5 mm screws

    • Two 6.7 mm Phillips screws

  9. Pull the battery connector towards the battery to disconnect it.
    • Pull the battery connector towards the battery to disconnect it.

  10. Remove the battery from the laptop.
    • Remove the battery from the laptop.

I have one question.. does the laptop operate without the battery? I want to take it out and not replace it.. thanks for your time..Chris
