Introduction

With this guide you can clean or repair a faulty keypad.

  • Place phone face down so battery cover is showing.

  • Use thumb to push the cover down and off.

  • Remove the five screws with a size 00 screwdriver. There are 4 in the corners and one on the top as shown.

Image 1/3: Some force must be applied, and the back cover should come off. Image 2/3: Some force must be applied, and the back cover should come off. Image 3/3: Some force must be applied, and the back cover should come off.
  • Be sure that all 5 screws are removed and start to carefully remove the back cover by using the iPod Opening Tool in the slots on the bottom of the device.

  • Some force must be applied, and the back cover should come off.

  • Detach the tab from the logic board shown by using the Ipod Opening Tool

Image 1/2: Remove the logic board from the device. Image 2/2: Remove the logic board from the device.
  • Use the Ipod Opening Tool to lift the green logic board carefully.

  • Remove the logic board from the device.

Image 1/1: Use a clean, soft, cotton cloth to gently remove any debris or liquid that may be located on the pad or logic board interface.
  • The keypad should peel off the logic board with a gentle pull.
