Introduction
Use this guide to take apart your Samsung Galaxy A36 5G. This is the first step for any major repair, such as replacing a cracked screen or a dying battery.
Before You Start:
- Drain the Battery: For safety, make sure your battery is below 25% charged. A charged battery is much more dangerous if it gets punctured during the repair.
- Waterproofing: Opening your phone breaks the factory seal. Your phone will no longer be waterproof unless you apply new adhesive when putting it back together.
- Be Patient with Heat: You will need to use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the glue holding the back cover on. Go slow to avoid cracking the glass or melting the internal parts.
What to Watch Out For:
- Tiny Screws: There are several small screws inside that are different lengths. Keep them organized; putting a long screw in the wrong hole can permanently break your screen.
- Sharp Glass: If your screen or back glass is already cracked, wear eye protection and be careful of small splinters.
-
-
-
Apply Heat: Use a hair dryer, heat gun, or a heated rice bag (like an iOpener). Focus on the outer edges of the back glass for 2-3 minutes. Tip: The glass should be quite warm to the touch, but not so hot that it burns your skin or melts the plastic frame.
-
Attach Suction: Place a suction cup on the bottom half of the back glass, as close to the edge as possible.
-
Create a Gap: Pull up on the suction cup with steady, firm pressure to create a tiny gap between the glass and the frame.
-
Insert a Pick: Slide a thin plastic opening pick (or a guitar pick) into that tiny gap.
-
-
-
-
Slide the Pick: Slowly slide your pick along the bottom edge of the phone. Note: If the glue feels "grabby" or tough, apply more heat.
-
Navigate the Corners: Carefully slide around the corners. Leave a pick in each corner as you go to prevent the glue from re-sticking.
-
Watch the "Key Island": When sliding along the right side (where the power and volume buttons are), do not insert your pick deeper than 5mm. There are delicate ribbon cables there that can be easily sliced.
-
Finish the Loop: Continue sliding until you have cut the glue around all four sides.
-
-
-
Open Slowly: Use your pick to gently pry the back cover up.
-
Final Check: If the cover feels stuck, don't force it. Re-insert a pick and check for any spots of glue you might have missed.
-
Remove: Once the glue is fully cut, lift the back cover off and set it aside in a safe, dust-free place.
-

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
