Introduction

This guide is for replacing a key cap on a Samsun 500C Chromebook. This is for whether a key cap fell off or if you are having problems with sticky keys etc.

Parts

No parts required.

You can skip this step if the key cap has already fallen off, and you are just trying to put it back on.

  • Remove the original key cap by prying it off with a spudger.

If you pry the cap off from the bottom it can break the plastic hook. If you pry it from the top instead, it's only a clip. Once the clip is free you can gently remove the bottom of the clasp.

Once the cap is off you press the key back onto the keyboard till it clicks. Some keys are special and contain metal bars. These keys include the ctrl, alt, space, shift, tab, enter, search, and delete. To put these keys back on the metal bars must be slid under the metal locks, and pressed on.
