Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers

What you need

  1. Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, Jack up the zoomer: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Please switch off the engine for all work.

    • Jack up the scooter on the main stand.

  2. Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, Remove air filter and cover: step 2, image 1 of 2 Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, Remove air filter and cover: step 2, image 2 of 2
    • Remove the six PH2 Phillips screws securing the air cleaner cover. The screw in the middle holds the air filter itself and can stay on.

    • Remove the air filter and cover.

    • When assembling, make sure that the seal lies neatly in the groove provided. It falls out very easily.

  3. Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, Loosen the air filter box: step 3, image 1 of 2 Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, Loosen the air filter box: step 3, image 2 of 2
    • Loosen the three screws with a 10 mm wrench. The lower screws are the same length, the upper one, which is screwed in from above, is shorter.

    • The hoses can all stay on, the box just has to be loose to get to the screw behind it.

  4. Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, remove seat: step 4, image 1 of 2 Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, remove seat: step 4, image 2 of 2
    • Using a wrench, unscrew the six (three on each side) 12mm bolts and remove the seat and base.

    • Theoretically, it is enough to loosen the substructure to get to the screw marked in green. I found it easier to take it off completely.

  5. Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, Loosen the shock absorber screws: step 5, image 1 of 1
    • Loosen the top 14mm shock bolt, but do not remove it yet.

    • Loosen the shock's bottom 12mm bolt, but do not remove it yet.

  6. Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, rear wheel inferior: step 6, image 1 of 1
    • Shim the rear wheel to keep it from lowering once you remove the bolts. Cardboard works just fine.

    • If you don't want to change the shock absorber for an original replacement, but for a better one with a different length, remember that your pad is "height adjustable".

    • Now completely unscrew the two screws from the previous step.

  7. Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, Remove shock absorber: step 7, image 1 of 3 Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, Remove shock absorber: step 7, image 2 of 3 Replace Honda Zoomer shock absorbers, Remove shock absorber: step 7, image 3 of 3
    • Notice how one of the cables goes around the shock absorber. You also have to thread in the new shock absorber in the same way.

    • Pull the shock out of the lower bracket and down.

    • The lower end of the shock absorber is threaded on one side. Make sure that the thread is on the side of the wheel when installing.

Conclusion

Work the steps in reverse order to reassemble your scooter.
