Introduction

Canon "E-18 error" happens when the lens gets stuck in the extended position. The LCD will display a little E-18 in the lower-left corner and start beeping.

Place camera lens facing upwards on the table.
Press and hold down the power button.
Simultaneously press down the shutter button.

Replace the batteries in the camera.
To open the battery cover slide the black lever on the underside of the camera and pull the cover toward the front.
Remove the old batteries from the camera and wait a few moments.
Put in a fresh set of batteries.
Close battery slide and power camera back on.

Put blow dryer in the "no heat" setting prior to plugging it in.
Plug in and turn the blow dryer on.
Blow air in the gaps between the lens.
