Redmi note 6 Pro charging port replacment

What you need

  1. Redmi note 6 Pro charging port replacment, Preparing the device: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • First and very importantly, we have to make sure that the charge level of the battery is not below 20% nor over 80%. These levels cause the most stress on batteries and we want to make sure that nothing happens during the repair. It is recommended that it should be at 50%.

    • When we have the adequate battery level, we turn the device off and remove the SIM (step 1 of the attached PDF at the end of the page). If we don't do this our device could suffer physical and software damage.

  2. Redmi note 6 Pro charging port replacment, Opening the device: step 2, image 1 of 2 Redmi note 6 Pro charging port replacment, Opening the device: step 2, image 2 of 2
    • We have to be very careful and have patience when opening the the device; you have to use a spudger and hold the opening with a guitar pick, a card or something similar.

    • When you open the device completely you have to be very careful, opening it like a book towards the left (with the screen on the table). We do this because there is a cable that we have to disconnect later (the one that connects the cover of the mobile to the fingerprint sensor).

    • Ignoring that the cable connects the rear cover with the fingerprint sensor could cause serious damage to the device that could necessitate costly major repairs.

  3. Redmi note 6 Pro charging port replacment, Removing the cover: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • All the screws in this repair are PH00 heads.

    • As we continue, we remove the screw that holds the shield in place protecting the flex fingerprint sensor cable (step 2 in the PDF guide).

    • To successfully complete the next step, the use of the nylon pliers is recommended to minimize the risk of cutting the fingerprint sensor flex cable or leaving any oils from the hands inside the device.

    • Remove the shield that protects the fingerprint sensor flex cable (step 3 in the PDF guide).

    • To finalize this step, we use a spudger to remove the orange flex cable that connects the cover to the body of the device. This needs to be done very carefully. Now, we put the rear cover in a safe place (step 4 in the PDF guide).

  4. Redmi note 6 Pro charging port replacment, Disconnecting the battery: step 4, image 1 of 1
    • Now we need to remove the two screws the hold the shield in place (step 5 in the PDF guide).

    • Then we disconnect the two cables that are underneath the shield (with a spudger) after removing the shield protector with the nylon pliers or with a spudger (step 6 in the PDF guide).

    • We disconnect the battery because the power button circuit on this device is incomplete once we remove the cover. This will not allow the mobile to re-initiate. To avoid this, we disconnect the battery.

    • It is NOT necessary to remove the battery. Just disconnecting the cables is sufficient.

  5. Redmi note 6 Pro charging port replacment, Removing the vibration motor and speaker: step 5, image 1 of 1
    • If the warranty is still valid, performing this operation will completely void the warranty.

    • We remove the six screws that we see in the image. ALERT! One of them is under a xiaomi sticker! (step 7 in the PDF guide)

    • We remove the vibration motor and the speaker (they are under the same module) using the nylon pliers.

  6. Redmi note 6 Pro charging port replacment, Disconnecting and removing the charging plate: step 6, image 1 of 2 Redmi note 6 Pro charging port replacment, Disconnecting and removing the charging plate: step 6, image 2 of 2
    • First, we perform the actions marked in red, then, the ones in orange.

    • With a spudger and much care, we disconnect the connector for the battery and the antennae (both marked in red).

    • Later we can remove the screw that we should store apart from the rest! (step 8 in the PDF guide)

    • Using the point of the spudger, or something similar, we use a little bit of leverage in the hole that is marked in blue. (step 9 in the PDF guide)

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order. But take into account that the mobile will "NOT" function correctly until the back cover is installed correctly given that this cover connects the power and volume buttons to the body of the mobile and allows it to correctly function.
