Pickleball Racket Grip Tape Replacement

Introduction

If your pickleball paddle grip tape is showing signs of wear, this quick guide will walk you through how to replace and rewrap your grip tape for better control and performance on the court.

What you need

    • Remove the previous grip — start with the grip band and electrical tape at the top, then peel all the way down.

    • Clean the handle with cleansing wipes or by pulling the sticky residue off of the handle.

    • Peel off the adhesive strip on the back of the end of the tape, then apply it flush to the bottom of the paddle handle.

    • Start wrapping the tape around the paddle handle upwards and diagonally.

    • Maintain tension throughout the entire process, but don’t pull too tight as to stretch the grip.

    • Cut from the bottom of the tape to the top at a shallow angle, then finish wrapping the tape around the shaft of the paddle.

    • Add about a half-inch-wide strip of electrical tape to the top of the handle to hold everything in place and cover with the grip band.
