What you need

    • Place the guitar neck where you can easily identify the broken string.

    • Place the guitar neck on an elevated surface (ex. bundle towels, pillow, etc.). Remove the string with a string winder until it is loose enough to pull out by hand.

    • Take the string out carefully and begin to pull the string out through the bridge which is at the lower end of the guitar.

    • Once the string is removed, wipe down the guitar neck to prevent further oil buildup.

    • Layout the new guitar strings from biggest to smallest.

    • Pull the new string through the bridge until the stopper is flushed with the bridge.

    • Position the skinny side of the string into the tuning peg. Allow enough excess string ( about 3 inches) so when the string is tightened, it will not break from being too tight or break from being too loose.

    • Loop the excess guitar string around the tuning peg and make sure the coil is being tuned downwards.

    • Trim the excess string with pliers. Make sure it is cut as close to the tuning peg so it does not stick out.
