Introduction
The mainboard contains the SoC (System on a Chip), the RAM and UFS storage chip, cameras and more. If a soldered component breaks, it may be easier to replace the whole mainboard than to try replace the individual component.
What you need
-
-
Remove the back cover by lifting it up with a Suction Handle and wedging an Opening Pick under it.
-
-
-
Remove the SIM card tray near the selfie camera. (top-right when viewing from the back side of the phone with the charger port pointing down)
-
Remove 18 Phillips #00 screws from the rear housing.
-
The rear housing is held on by clips. Wedge an Opening Pick between the side rim (same appearance as the back cover) and the midframe's rigid outer rim (black). It's easiest to begin unclipping by starting near the SIM card or side button cut-outs.
-
Continue unclipping the rear housing all around and unstick the plastic piece with adhesive.
-
-
-
-
Pry the battery connector up using a Spudger.
-
Make sure the contacts do not touch.
-
-
-
Lift cameras up from the midframe.
-
Detach the connector of the selfie camera by lifting it up with a Spudger.
-
Detach antenna cables by lifting up the connectors with a Spudger and unclipping the cables from the mainboard.
-
Disconnect the flexible printed circuits leading to the daughterboard by lifting their connectors up with a Spudger.
-
Lift up the mainboard from the top-right corner and move it top and right, away from the battery and the clip on the left-hand side.
-
Now you can replace the mainboard and/or replace the thermal paste.
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
