The circuit consists of an MQ-5 gas sensor, CMOS 4011, NE555 timer, LM358 comparator, a button, a piezo speaker, a potentiometer, resistors, and capacitors. That's it.

The gas sensor presumably needs to be heated, which is why the circuit board is discolored.

If the connector weren't severely bent and the threaded pieces broken, the gas detector would certainly still have worked.
