Nord Triple Pedal replace cable with stereo jack

What you need

    • Remove the 5 screws from the bottom metal cover.

    • Remove the 2 screws that hold the pedal assembly to the case.

    • Remove the plastic piece between the pedal assembly and the case.

    • Cut off the existing cable leaving about 10" attached to the pedal circuit board.

    • Strip the cable and the inner conductors.

    • Using a multimeter in continuity mode, test the tip, ring, and sleeve conductors for continuity.

    • Be sure to move the cable around to test for possible intermittent breaks especially where the cable enters the pedal assembly.

    • If your existing cable is good, go to the next step.

    • Unsolder the existing cable. Remove the cable clamp and zip tie.

    • Strip the new replacement cable and solder it to the pedal circuit board.

    • Add a zip tie as a strain relief for the cable.

    • Drill a 3/8" hole in the outer case of the pedal for the stereo jack. Be sure to a pick a location that does not interfere with the movement of the pedals.

    • Strip the cable and solder the shield, tip, and ring wires. Be sure to match the labels on the pedal circuit board. Use some heat-shrink tubing for each connection.

    • Attach the stereo jack to the case with the included washer and nut.

    • Refer to the schematic on this forum post: https://www.norduserforum.com/general-no... https://www.norduserforum.com/download/f...

    • Note that the sustain pedal has four positions and the corresponding four resistors are connected in parallel to encode the pedal position. Similarly, the sostenuto and soft pedal share the ring connection.

    • Use your multimeter in the ohms setting to measure the resistance at the plug between the sleeve and the tip, and the sleeve and the ring. Depress the pedals in turn and in combination to verify the resistances.

    • The damper pedal uses the TIP connection:

    • Damper 1: 10K Ω (lightest pressure)

    • Damper 2: 3.2K Ω

    • Damper 3: 1.3K Ω

    • Damper 4: 500K Ω (strongest pressure)

    • The Sostenuto and Soft pedals share the RING connection:

    • Sostenuto alone: 10K Ω

    • Soft alone: 5.6K Ω

    • Both: 3.6K Ω

    • If all the pedal positions and resistances check out, reassemble the pedal.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
