Magic Circle Crochet Repair

What you need

  1. Magic Circle Crochet Repair, Magic Circle Crochet Repair: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Locate the loose section of yarn at the center of your project's magic circle. This will be your starting point for the repair.

    • Using your scissors and additional yarn, cut a section of yarn that is about 5-10 inches long. This will be your repair yarn.

    • Tie the two ends together.

    • It is best if you use the same yarn from your original project, or yarn that is similar in weight and color, because the repair yarn will then blend with the project more seamlessly. This guide uses black yarn so that each step is easier to see.

    • Hide the excess yarn by threading your tapestry needle with the shorter end of the repair yarn and the starting section of yarn. Weave these ends into nearby stitches with your tapestry needle. Leave the long end of your repair yarn out.

    • Weave the tapestry needle through the ending stitch once more, but do not pull the repair yarn the way through. This leaves a loop of repair yarn.

    • Send the tapestry needle through the center of your repair yarn loop and tighten to secure the repair yarn. This knot ensures that your magic circle stays closed.

    • Weave the repair yarn through all of the center stitches once more for added stability and to begin hiding the excess repair yarn.

    • Weave the tapestry needle through the center of your nearest second-row stitch in the project and pull the repair yarn through.

    • Optionally, you can continue to weave the repair yarn through additional stitches in your piece. This further stabilizes the magic circle's repaired center by giving the repair yarn more resistance to movement and pulling.
