  • Remove the 4.76 mm Phillips #1 screw.

  • Lift up the top of the mouse and pull the cover off.

  • Replace the spring making sure it is placed on the right side of the wheel with the prongs pointing down.

Image 1/3: This spring will easily fall off. Image 2/3: Grab the scroll wheel and its mount and gently pull them apart. Image 3/3: Grab the scroll wheel and its mount and gently pull them apart.
  • Be aware of where the resistance spring is.

    • This spring will easily fall off.

  • Grab the scroll wheel and its mount and gently pull them apart.

  • Grasp the top of the resistance spring then pull it towards yourself so the bottom slides out of its hole.

  • When installing the resistance spring place the hooked section of the spring in its corresponding hole on the mount.

This mouse was also available from Dell as an OEM device under the model name "M-UVDEL1". Hopefully the Google juice will help folks repair their devices. I know I would have spent far more time than I did if it weren't for the photos on how to put the spring back. Thanks Maximilian!
