Introduction

Lip balms often break or become deformed due to temperature conditions, improper storage or handling accidents. This guide will help you to remold your lip balm to working condition.

This guide is to fix broken or damaged lip balm in chapstick tubes. This guide applies to any brand of tube chapstick with a twisting mechanism only, other designs may need specialized guides. This guide will not aid in repairing the tube itself or cleaning dirty lip balm, so if your chapstick is contaminated with debris, or missing more than half of the balm, it is best to discard and replace it.

Uncap the lip balm and twist the tube clockwise to bring the lip balm up.

Scrape out the lip balm with the stirrer and place the pieces into a microwave safe bowl.

Twist the tube counterclockwise to retract and use a cotton swab to clean the container.

Melt the lip balm with the heat gun, holding it 4-5 inches away from the bowl.
Stir occasionally to remove lumps.
You can optionally add scents, colors, or flavors during this step.
The bowl may be hot from the heat gun. Use a towel to hold the bowl in place while stirring.
