Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Gen Back Cover Removal

Introduction

Follow this guide if you need to replace the back cover of your Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Gen or if you need to access the internals for another reason.

Before beginning this guide, power off your laptop and disconnect from the charging cable.

What you need

  1. Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Gen Back Cover Removal, Back Cover: step 1, image 1 of 1

    • Turn the laptop on to its back.

    • Use the Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove five 1.2 mm screws from the back cover of the laptop.

    • Remove the back cover using the opening tool, leaving the laptop back exposed.

    • Use the opening tool to pry the edge and work your way around the perimeter.

    • Careful to undo the clips before removing the back cover.
