Introduction

This will show a step-by-step process in replacing the camera's mic.

Parts

No parts required.

Image 1/1:
  • Open the battery cover.

Image 1/1: Remove the battery.
  • Slide the orange latch sideways to eject the battery.

  • Remove the battery.

Image 1/3: 1 (6.25 mm) screw located on the top right corner, next to the view screen. Image 2/3: 4 (4.45mm) screws on the bottom of the camera. Image 3/3: 2 (2.95mm) screws on the left side of the camera.
  • Remove 7 screws.

    • 1 (6.25 mm) screw located on the top right corner, next to the view screen.

    • 4 (4.45mm) screws on the bottom of the camera.

    • 2 (2.95mm) screws on the left side of the camera.

  • There will be 2 (5.39mm) screws. Remove the screws in order to remove the lanyard.

Image 1/2: Remove the front casing. Image 2/2: Remove the front casing.
  • Remove the rear camera casing.

  • Remove the front casing.

  • Remove the top panel screw (1x 4.37mm).

  • Remove the top panel.

  • Remove the back panel screws (1x 3.33mm, and 1x 3.40mm).

  • Separate the inner casing from the tripod mount.

  • Gently pull the orange tab out of the circuit board.

  • Carefully flip the LCD panel to expose the central circuit board.

  • Remove the (1x 3.33mm) screw from the menu button panel .

  • Pull the second orange tab from the circuit board and remove the buttons.

Image 1/3: Disconnect the two ribbons cables from their sockets on the motherboard. Image 2/3: Disconnect the two ribbons cables from their sockets on the motherboard. Image 3/3: Disconnect the two ribbons cables from their sockets on the motherboard.
  • Flip up the LCD screen to reveal the two orange ribbon cables.

  • Disconnect the two ribbons cables from their sockets on the motherboard.

  • Locate the microphone on top of the camera

  • With a pry bar, remove microphone away from camera carefully.

  • Release it from it's pin and desolder
