The handle is locked up, partially ajar. Inserted a k-cup and handle locked when I was pulling it down

Handle is locked in a partial open position. I raised handle, inserted-cup and when the handle

was pulled down it locked halfway down and does not move

I also have a similar problem as Meme Hill, where the k cup area jostles and jams to an awkward position when moving the handle up (it cannot go up all the way), and it prevents full access to k cup, but I don't know why or what is preventing proper operation of handle swing. My current work around is keep on trying opening and closing, and eventually the handle can open all the way, and the k-cup area part swings out, but it really annoying. It should be accessible the first time when putting the handle up.
