- Kyocera Oystr Teardown 7 steps
You will use the Phillips Y0 Tri-wing Screwdriver and the iPod opening tool to replace the Kyocera Oystr Screen.
Lift the bottom of the phone's back cover upwards, revealing the phone's battery housing.
Remove the battery from the casing. This is simply a precaution.
Turn the phone over so that the front side is facing you. Flip open the device in preparation for the next step.
Peel the Virgin Mobile sticker from the phone's screen, revealing two screws beneath it.
Using the Tri-Wing Y0 screwdriver, remove the two screws from the screen.
Lift the plastic cover of the phone screen upwards by prying around the perimeter of the screen with an iPod opening tool.
After lifting the plastic cover from the screen, remove the two screws from the metal cover holding the screen in place.
Remove the phone's speakers by using the iPod opening tool to pry up and away from the device. These speakers will dangle by the wires attached to the board.
Use your fingernail to detach the ribbon connecting the board to the screen.
Remove the damaged screen from the device.
