What you need

  1. Huawei MateBook E 2022 SSD Upgrade/Replacement, Create an opening gap: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Heat up the iOpener for 30 seconds in the microwave. Then, heat up the bottom edge of the display for 90 seconds.

    • Place the iSclack in the middle of the bottom edge.

    • Press the iSclack to create a small gap between the display and the case.

    • Once you've opened a sufficient gap, insert an opening pick into the gap.

    • Slice through the adhesive under the screen by sliding the pick along the edge of the display, towards the bottom corners.

    • Leave the pick in place temporarily to prevent the adhesive from re-sealing.

    • Heat up the other edges of the display with the iOpener and work your way through all sides.

    • The display is connected to the laptop with fragile cables. Don't insert the pick deeper than 1cm.

    • Lift the display from the right side (with the camera).

    • The display is still connected to the laptop with a cable. Don't lift it to far away from the case.

    • Remove the two PH1-screws and the bracket.

    • Disconnect the display cable with the iFixit Opening Tool.

    • Remove the entire display and put it aside.

    • Put the display on a soft surfe, so as not to scratch it.

    • Remove the 46 silver PH1-screws.

    • Remove the 4 black PH1-screws.

    • The silver screws all have the same size, you don't have to remember where each one goes. The location of the black screws is marked with an arrow.

    • Remove the middle frame. The battery is attached on the underside, the frame might be heavier than initially expected.

    • Remove the PH1-screw, mounting the M.2 SSD.

    • Remove the heat shield from the old SSD and attach it to the new SSD.

    • Install the new SSD into the laptop with the screw.

    • Remove any residue of the old tape from the four edges of the case.

    • Remove any residue on the back side of the display.

    • The display is very fragile, don't use too much force. The black frame is printed on the backside of the display, watch out to not scratch it.

    • After mounting the middle frame, attach the new tape to the case.

Which thickness should the new Tape have? 1/2/4/8mm?

I used 3M 300LSE in 10mm width, but 8mm should work as well. I used a pick to get the tape fully into the edge and then trimmed the excess on both sides with a sharp knife, so the width doesn't really matter as long as its wide enough to cover the surface at the edge. Ideally, you use a precut tape if those are available.

What's the largest storage capacity you can put into this device?
I'm planning on upgrading mine.

It‘s a M.2 slot, so basically any 2280 NVMe will fit. The sweet spot right now seem to be 2TB or 4TB SSDs, depends on your budget of course.
