How to repair a broken buckle on the side compression strap

What you need

    • To determine the correct buckle size, measure the webbing with a measuring tape. For example, if the webbing has a width of 16 mm, you will also need a buckle that matches this size.

    • Cut the lower layer of the webbing along the side seam. The "lower layer" refers to the part of the webbing that is inside/below when the buckle is closed.

    • Remove the broken buckle.

    • Briefly burn the edges of both cut ends to prevent the webbing from fraying later. Lightly press the melted edge with a non-flammable object (e.g., with pliers).

    • Caution: Direct contact with the flame or overheated material can cause burns to the skin.

    • Always keep the lighter moving and do not hold it in one place for too long to avoid overheating, burning, or excessive melting of the material. Move the lighter parallel to the edge of the material.

    • See: Additional safety instructionsfor burning fabric edges.

    • Thread the new buckle onto the webbing.

    • Align the webbing edges flush as shown in the video. The end of the webbing can also be folded over once, but this will make the layer significantly thicker and harder to sew.

    • Sew the two layers of webbing together, keeping the presser foot as close to the edge of the buckle as possible.

    • Sew back and forth at least 2-3 times.

    • Cut the thread ends.

    • Done.
