Introduction

The side mirror ensures drivers’ safety by allowing them to see the traffic aside and behind them. Broken glass could potentially cause car accidents.

If the side mirror glass on your 2011-2017 Volkswagen Jetta is broken or dirty, use this guide to replace it.

This guide does not require any special skills. Just follow a few steps and you can fit a new mirror to your car!

  1. Turn on the accessory power. Twist the mirror adjustment knob to the side you are working on (L for left, R for right). Push the knob so that the mirror will angle towards the car.
    • Turn on the accessory power.

  2. Pull the mirror from the exposed back. There will be an audible pop when the mirror is fully detached. Use extra strength to pull out the mirror if needed. Do not worry about breaking the mirror.

  3. Pull hard to release the wire from the metal prong, one at a time. If the wire is stuck, wiggle it from side to side.

    • Hold the mirror firmly to avoid accidentally dropping it.

  4. Reattach the wires to the metal prongs located on the new mirror. The purple wire goes to the prong furthest from the center of the mirror.

    • The red wire goes to the prong closest to the center of the mirror.

    • Make sure the wires are fully pushed in.

  6. Turn the accessory power on.
    • Turn the accessory power on.

    • Using the adjustment knob, move the mirror back to a normal viewing angle.
