Introduction
Everyday activities, such as lifting heavy objects, or improper storage can cause your sterling silver rings to bend out of shape or become "out-of-round." Once your rings is warped, it becomes unwearable or uncomfortable to wear and can be expensive to repair if taken to a jewelry shop.
This guide provides an easy and inexpensive way to repair your warped sterling silver rings at home. Some precautions throughout this guide include using a stove, handling hot water, and using a rubber mallet, all of which are potentially harmful if they are not used correctly.
What you need

Fill a cooking pot halfway full with water.

Place the pot with water on the stove.

Turn the stove burner on to medium heat.

Boil the water until it starts steaming.

Use tongs to hold the ring and place it in the steaming water.

Release the grip on the ring, and let the ring sit at the bottom of the pot.

Remove the tongs from the pot and set them aside.

Boil the ring in the water for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, remove the ring from the boiling water using tongs.

Place the ring on a paper towel for 5 minutes to cool the metal.

Place the warped ring on a metal mandrel.

Pull the ring down the mandrel to the desired ring size.

Use a rubber mallet to gently pound the ring band until it is round again.

Rotate the ring to check that it is round and smooth.

Pull the ring off the mandrel.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
