How to Repair a Broken Playhouse Door

Introduction

If your child's playhouse door has become damaged, use this guide to help you repair it. When exposed to the outdoor elements such as rain and excessive sunshine, paired with overuse by young children, doors and their hinges can become very unstable and break. My guide will show you how to repair the door back to its original working condition.

Label each piece of wood with a number.
The door in this guide has seven panels, so I'll be labeling them 1 through 7.

Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove all the screws so that each wood panel is separated.

Gather all the individual wood panels and line them up in their numbered order so that the door looks complete.

Apply wood glue to each panel of wood where it intersects with another piece.
You may want to keep a towel or napkin nearby to wipe off any excess glue.

Attach clamps to the wood panels where the glue was applied. Place one clamp on each end.
It might be easiest to glue and clamp two wood panels together at a time and then attach all the pieces together once the glue dries.
Keep the clamps on the wood panels until the glue is completely dry. It takes about 24 hours for the glue to fully cure.
