How to Remove a Blood Stain from Satin

Before you begin:

You may want to throw on some gloves and a mask to protect against disease if you're tackling blood stains made by someone else; especially more recent ones.
For extremely old stains, it's a good idea to soak the fabric for several hours before beginning procedure for better results.
Know that satin may be mistaken for its fabric relatives, such as silk. Be sure to refer to the information on your fabric's tags or packaging for confirmation, if available.

Dip the stained fabric in bowl of cold water.
Massage the stain while submerged for about 20 seconds to ensure that it is fully saturated.

Pour laundry detergent or dish soap into bowl.
Amount poured should equate to approximately 1/2 cup (120ml). Larger stains may require higher quantities.

Wet a clean, dry cloth or sponge in the bowl.

Dab the stain gently by repeatedly pressing the wet cloth or sponge against it.
Rubbing the stain may further spread it and/or embed it deeper in the fabric.

Rinse the stain with cold water.
Inspect to determine whether further cleaning is required.

Add a few drops of vinegar or hydrogen peroxide to the initial solution if the stain persists.
Repeat steps 3 and 4.
The combination of these chemicals creates peracetic acid. Do not mix hydrogen peroxide and vinegar.
