How to Remove Rust on Car Body

Introduction

This is a tutorial on how to get rid of rust that lies on the car frame. Getting the rust off the car will prevent it from further damage and rusting.

Spray down the rust with a spray bottle mixed with water and dish soap.
Wipe the mixture with a microfiber cloth.

Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a microfiber cloth.
Clean the rusted area with the cloth to remove any contaminants.

Rub the rusted area with 80-grit sandpaper until you start seeing the bare metal.

Rub the rusted area with 220-grit sandpaper until all of the rust is removed.
Dampen a cloth with soapy water and wipe down the sanded area.

This step is to prepare your spot for spray painting.
Add some paper around the areas you do not want paint on. Make sure you go a little past where you are going to spray paint to blend the paint into the surrounding area.

Spray three even coats of primer, waiting at least five minutes between each coat.
Let the third coat sit for 15 minutes.

Spray three even coats of paint on top of the primer, waiting five minutes between each coat.
You can either use a color similar to your car or you can get the actual color of you car by looking for the car's color code.
After the final coat, wait 24 hours before removing the surrounding paper.
