How to Fix the Siemens Washing Machine F34 Error Code

Video Guide
This guide was transcribed from a YouTube video.

What you need

    • Stop using the machine and look through the door glass before trying to open the door.

    • Hot water in the drum can burn you, so let the water cool before draining or opening the door.

    • Don't try to open the door if the water level is above the door glass.

    • Drain the excess water before releasing the door if the machine stopped mid-cycle or still has a high water level.

    • Keep the machine powered only while using the controls, and unplug it before using tools or draining water.

    • Check whether the child lock is active if the wash cycle has finished but the door won't open.

    • On some Siemens and Bosch models, the door lock won't release even if the machine is switched off while the child lock is active.

    • Hold the two child-lock buttons for three seconds on models that use this control method.

    • Wait for the beep or lock release, then try opening the door with the handle.

    • Use the child-lock controls shown on the control panel or in the manual if the buttons differ on your model.

    • Switch the washing machine off at the power supply.

    • Wait about 15 minutes to let the machine reset.

    • Switch the machine back on and try opening the door.

    • Keep your hands dry when handling the plug or power supply switch.

    • Open the lower service flap at the bottom right of the washing machine.

    • Unclip the drainage hose and place its end into a tray.

    • Remove the cap from the drainage hose and let the water drain into the tray.

    • A single tray may not hold all the water if the drum is full.

    • Put the cap back on the drainage hose to pause the flow when the tray is full.

    • Empty the tray, refit the hose into the tray, remove the cap, and repeat until the drum is drained.

    • Refit the cap and clip the drainage hose back into place after draining.

    • Keep the lower service flap open and look just above the filter for the emergency door release.

    • Use a flathead screwdriver to press into the release system.

    • Pull the emergency release downward until the door catch clicks open.

    • Try opening the door with the handle after you hear the catch release.

    • The pump filter sits beside the emergency release and may need cleaning if drainage problems continue.

    • Refit the lower service flap when you're done.

    • Check the door latch design if the emergency release doesn't open the door.

    • Some Siemens and Bosch designs can't be unclicked from the outside, which can point to a faulty door release mechanism.

    • On models with an accessible latch, wiggle an plastic card into the seam near the latch to try to catch the release.

    • Use gentle pressure to avoid damaging the door seal, latch, or cabinet.

    • If the card doesn't work, feed a string through the groove around the drum door and pull it toward the latch side.

    • This method only works on latch designs that the string can catch.

    • Don't wedge the door open with a large screwdriver.

    • Forcing the door can break the handle, damage the locking mechanism, crack the door, or bend the cabinet.

    • Call a washing machine technician if the door still won't open after draining, resetting, and using the release methods.

    • A door that keeps getting stuck may have a faulty handle or a failed locking mechanism.

    • Leave the detergent dispenser drawer slightly ajar after each wash cycle.

    • Leave the drum door open after each wash cycle to improve ventilation.

    • Better ventilation helps stop the washing machine from smelling.

    • Arrange a repair if the door repeatedly sticks instead of relying on the emergency release.

    • Address a suspected faulty handle, door latch, or locking mechanism before running more wash cycles.

Conclusion

After the door opens, remove the laundry, make sure the drainage hose is capped and clipped back in place, and refit the lower service flap. If the F34 error or stuck door returns, the handle, door latch, door release mechanism, or locking mechanism may need professional repair. Repair didn't go as planned?
