How to Fix the Candy Washing Machine E03 Error Code

Video Guide
This guide was transcribed from a YouTube video.

What you need

    • Turn off the washing machine at the power supply and unplug it.

    • Unplugging the washer helps prevent electric shock while water drains from the filter area.

    • Keep the plug, outlet, and power cord away from any spilled water.

    • Open the filter flap at the bottom-left front of the washing machine.

    • Place an old towel below the flap.

    • Slide a shallow tray under the filter and keep a sponge nearby.

    • If you need more tray clearance, have another person help tilt the washer back and keep it stable.

    • If you live above another property, wipe up spills right away so water doesn't leak through the floor.

    Ask FixBot
    • Look for a small drainage hose beside the filter.

    • If the washer has one, pull the hose out and unclip the end cap.

    • Drain the water into the shallow tray or a bucket.

    • Refit the end cap and clip the hose back in place after the water stops.

    • Using the drainage hose leaves much less water behind when you remove the filter.

    Ask FixBot
    • Slowly turn the filter counterclockwise just enough to let water drain out.

    • Don't fully remove the filter yet, because a lot of water can pour out.

    • Turn the filter clockwise to close it as soon as the shallow tray is full.

    • Empty the tray into a sink or bucket.

    • Use the sponge and old towel to dry the floor before draining more water.

    • Repeat loosening, draining, tightening, and emptying until little or no water comes out.

    Ask FixBot
    • Tighten the filter slightly if it won't unscrew.

    • Gently loosen and tighten the filter repeatedly until the debris clears the threads.

    • Don't force the filter, because coins, hair clips, or other debris can jam it and damage the threads.

    Ask FixBot
    • Unscrew the filter fully and pull it out after the water has drained.

    • Remove loose lint, dirt, and debris from the filter.

    • Check for coins, hair clips, face masks, and similar items.

    • Hard debris can block drainage, trigger E03 or E20 errors, cause pump noises, or damage the impeller.

    Ask FixBot
    • Wet the filter with hot, soapy water.

    • Scrub the filter with a brush until all dirt and debris are gone.

    • Make sure the filter is completely clear before reinstalling it.

    Ask FixBot
    • Check inside the filter opening for debris, dirt, and mold.

    • Use your fingers to remove any loose debris you can reach.

    • Scrub inside the filter area with the brush until it is clean.

    • Check the impeller propeller at the back and make sure it spins freely.

    • Remove any coins, hair clips, face masks, lint, or other debris found inside.

    • Use light pressure around the impeller so you don't damage it.

    Ask FixBot
    • Insert the clean filter into the opening and turn it clockwise.

    • Remove the filter and try again if it doesn't thread in easily.

    • Don't force the filter, because cross-threading can cause leaks.

    • Tighten the filter until it locks in the horizontal position.

    • Check that the filter is locked, then close the flap.

    Ask FixBot
    • Wipe the floor dry with the sponge and old towel.

    • Hang the old towel to dry.

    • Plug the washing machine back in and switch it on.

    • Check the filter area for drips before starting a wash.

    Ask FixBot
    • Clean the pump filter once a year if possible.

    • Run a hygienically fresh washing program every 30 washing cycles.

    • Check pockets before starting a wash to keep coins and hair clips out of the filter.

    • Clean the filter sooner if the washer drains slowly, smells bad, shows E03 or E20, or makes strange noises near the pump.

    Ask FixBot
Conclusion

The pump filter should now be clean and ready for use. Clean it annually, and clean it sooner if drainage problems, smells, E03 or E20 errors, or pump-area noises return. Repair didn't go as planned? Ask our Answers community for help.
