Introduction

Clean the dispenser drawer, pump filter, door seal, and drum on a Beko front-loading washing machine to keep it clean and odor-free. This routine helps remove detergent residue, mold, and bacteria that can cause bad smells, especially if you mostly wash at 30 °C or 40 °C. The door seal is also called the door seal or door gasket. This guide was written using a Beko WN622W, but other Beko front-loading washers are similar and may have small control differences.

Step 1 Prepare the washer

Run this cleaning routine every 30 washing cycles or every couple of months.
Clean the washer more often if most loads use 30 °C or 40 °C, because those temperatures aren't hot enough to kill bacteria and odor-causing residue.
Unplug the washer before cleaning the filter, drawer, or door seal.
Wear rubber gloves and follow the cleaner label before handling detergent, cleaner, or filter debris.
Gather a brush, hot, soapy water, a wet cloth, a towel, a shallow container, and a washing machine cleaner.

Step 2 Clean the pump filter

Clean the pump filter before working on the drawer and drum seal.
Keep a towel and a shallow container under the filter area to catch any trapped water.
Remove the pump filter, clean away trapped debris, and reinstall it securely.
Plug the washer back in only after the filter is fully closed.

Step 3 Remove the dispenser drawer

Pull the dispenser drawer out until it stops.
Press down the release button inside the drawer.
Pull the dispenser drawer out of the washer.

Step 4 Clean the dispenser drawer

Scrub the drawer with a brush and hot, soapy water.
Remove mold, residue, and detergent residue from every compartment.
Keep cleaning until the drawer is clean and free of residue.
Residue left in the drawer can wash into the laundry.

Step 5 Clean the dispenser housing

Wipe the inside of the dispenser housing with a wet cloth and hot, soapy water.
Use a wire or a dental floss brush to clear the small jet holes if residue remains.
Cover the lower opening with the wet cloth so the brush or wire can't fall inside.
Slide the clean dispenser drawer back into the housing.

Step 6 Clean the drum rubber

Open the door and wipe the door seal with the wet cloth and hot, soapy water.
Clean around the visible rubber until mold, residue, and residue are gone.
Don't use sharp tools on the rubber seal, because punctures can cause leaks.

Step 7 Add the cleaner to the drum

Make sure the drum is empty.
Pour one dose of washing machine cleaner straight into the drum.
If you don't have washing machine cleaner, add a small amount of normal liquid detergent or washing powder instead.

Step 8 Select the cleaning program

Select Drum Clean or Service Wash if the washer has that program.
If it doesn't, select a cotton wash, set it to the hottest temperature available, and choose Quick Wash.
On the Beko WN622W, the hottest cotton setting is 90 °C.
Press the Start button.

Step 9 Run the hot cleaning cycle

Keep young children away while the cycle runs.
The water may reach 90 °C, and the door glass can get extremely hot.
Let the washer complete the rinse and final spin.
A cotton 90 °C quick cycle takes about an hour and a half on this model.
The hot cycle helps reduce odor-causing residue and leaves the washer clean and odor-free.

Step 10 Finish and ventilate the washer

When the program ends, turn the washer off and open the door.
Check that the drum smells fresh.
Leave the dispenser drawer and door open if the washer will sit unused for a while.
Ventilation helps the washer dry and slows odor buildup.

Step 11 Troubleshoot persistent odors

If the washer still smells after cleaning, check the pump filter and drainage hose for a blockage.
If the washer isn't draining water, clear the blocked drain before running another cleaning cycle.
Repeat the hygiene cleaning routine every 30 washing cycles or every couple of months.
