In general: wash as little as possible and as often as necessary. Please follow the instructions on the product’s care label. The following is an example of what steps to wash a waterproof membrane jacket the best way. Only use liquid detergent for fine wash or for functional clothing. Even better is functional detergent like Nikwax Tech Wash.
No parts required.
Set the washing machine to 30 °C with a gentle cycle. There are symbols for the recommended care products on the smaller label. We recommend Nikwax Tech Wash for the washing cycle and TX Direct Spray from Nikwax for waterproofing if necessary.
Details to the care symbols for washing, bleaching, drying or ironing you will find here: http://help.vaude.com/care-instructions/...
Fill the washing machine. For optimal results you should wash similar colours together and turn the items inside out before washing.
Set the washing machine to the cycle and temperature recommended on the apparel. In our example it is 30 °C and a gentle cycle. Put the correct amount of liquid in the dispenser depending on the hardness of your water. You can find out how much you should use by reading the instructions on the care product.
For optimal reactivation of the waterproofing (DWR), put the clothing into the dryer for 30 to 50 minutes after washing
When your jacket is dry, you can do a water beading test to find out if you need to re-waterproof it. Water should pearl up into beads on the surface of the jacket. To waterproof, we recommend TX-Direct Spray from Nikwax. Spray the outside of the clothing evenly. This leaves the inside untreated to that it can absorb moisture and move it outward.
