Fix Your Stuff

Right to Repair

Zips often become harder to open or close. Most of the time, lubricating the zip helps it run smoothly again. We’ll show you how you can lubricate a zip on a jacket, but it works just as well on other zips such as on a tent or backpack.

No parts specified.

    • Open the zip if possible. Spray a small amount of silicone spray at both openings of the slider. Move the slider up and down several times to distribute the silicone.

Hi Dear,

You can use a soapbar also. The soap needs to be dried before use as lubricant. Just rub it a couple of times onto the full length of zipper, then pull the zipper up and down a few. That's all.

Grandma's trick :)
