How To Fix a Broken Bra Hook

What you need

    • Use a seam ripper to rip off the seams on either side of the broken hook and also the edge seam.

    • Make sure to not rip off the seam of other hooks.

    • Point the head of the seam ripper away from you to prevent poking yourself

    • Remove the broken hook from the strap.

    • Pull or cut off the threads that are still attached to the strap.

    • Insert the new hook into the strap.

    • Use fingers to hold the hook in the strap.

    • Place the tip of the pin next to the new hook.

    • Make sure the pin is placed in the middle of the hook.

    • Push the pin until it goes through the strap and reach for back of the pin.

    • Point the tip of the pin next to the other side of the hook.

    • Push pin again to make it go through to the front of the strap.

    • Push the pin slowly to avoid poking yourself!

    • Put the hooks into the eyes of the bra to make sure hook is placed correctly.

    • Thread needle with thread the same color as the bra.

    • Pull the thread through to an appropriate length.

    • Approx. 10-12 inches.

    • Cut the thread.

    • Tie the thread into a knot at the end of the thread.

    • Tie two or three times for a thicker knot.

    • Cut the excess thread off with the scissors.

    • Do as close as possible to the knot for a clean seam.

    • Feel around for one of the two holes at the bottom of the new hook.

    • This will not be visible and may take some time to locate.

    • Stick the threaded needle through the hole of the hook.

    • Use a backstitch to sew the hook into place.

    • Repeat this for the other hole in the same hook.

    • Always watch out for the tip of the needle while sewing!

    • Make a large loop with the thread when finished sewing the hook into place.

    • Place your finger on the point where you would like the knot to be and pull on the thread.

    • Knot two or three times.

    • Cut excess thread off with the scissors.

    • Do this as close as possible to the knot for no loose threads.

    • Knot two or three times.

    • Pay attention to the tip of the needle to avoid poking your fingers!
