HP ZBOOK 15 G5 Motherboard Replacement

What you need

  1. HP ZBOOK 15 G5 Motherboard Replacement, Opening the Bottom Panel: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Find the bottom panel locking mechanism

    • Move the switch to the right to unlock and slide it in a downwards fashion

  2. HP ZBOOK 15 G5 Motherboard Replacement, Removing the Battery: step 2, image 1 of 1
    • Slide the battery latches to the right to loosen the battery

    • Remove the battery and place it to the side

    • Unscrew the three keyboard screws on the bottom

    • While placing the laptop on it's side, push through the hole to release the keyboard

    • Once the latch releases, flip over the laptop and disconnect the three connectors as well

    • Place the keyboard to the side and flip the laptop over again

    • Remove these screws with a T8 screwdriver

    • Remove these screws with a philips screwdriver

    • Once they are removed, carefully lift up the bottom case

    • Unscrew SSD screw and slide the SSD out

    • Remove these screws and place the LCD connector cover to the side

    • Disconnect all of the motherboard connectors

    • Unscrew all of the screws on the fans (Keep in mind the screw don't come all of the way out)

    • Make sure to disconnect the fan connectors before removing it

    • Unscrew the motherboard screws

    • Make sure the SD card holder has been removed

    • Remove the motherboard and place it to the side

    • Place the new motherboard in and screw it into place

    • Screw in the fans and reconnect the motherboard cables

    • Reconnect the LCD connectors

    • Screw the bottom case back onto the laptop

    • Connect the battery and put the battery cover back into place

Conclusion

Once the repair had been done. Call the user and let them know their laptop is ready for pick-up

Is it necessary to remove the keyboard if one is just swapping out the fans?

Answer: No, the keyboard does not have to be removed to swap out the fans .
