HP Spectre x360 13t-4000 Fan Replacement

Introduction

This guide will instruct you on how to remove and replace the fan. Replacement of the fan may be necessary if the laptop is overheating.

What you need

  1. HP Spectre x360 13t-4000 Fan Replacement, Bottom Cover: step 1, image 1 of 2 HP Spectre x360 13t-4000 Fan Replacement, Bottom Cover: step 1, image 2 of 2

    • Turn off and unplug the laptop.

    • Flip over the laptop so that the bottom backplate is exposed.

    • Use a T5 screwdriver to remove the six 3 mm screws that secure the backplate.

    • Use the same screwdriver to remove the two 7 mm screws.

    • Insert an opening tool under the bottom cover at the screen hinges, and gently pry the cover free.

    • Carefully work your way around the cover's edges to pop it off completely.

    • Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver to unscrew and remove the two 4 mm screws that secure the fan.

    • Use the same screwdriver to remove the four 3 mm screws to free the heat sink.

    • Remove the fan cable.

    • Peal off the tape with the metal shield, heat sink, and the fan attached to it.

    • Gently separate the fan from the heat sink in order to replace the fan.
