HP Spectre 13-4002dx Heat Sink Replacement

Introduction

The laptop needs to be powered off before starting disassembly. The heat sink removes heat from the laptop. If you are experiencing overheating problems then you may need to replace the heat sink.

What you need

  1. HP Spectre 13-4002dx Heat Sink Replacement, Bottom Case: step 1, image 1 of 2 HP Spectre 13-4002dx Heat Sink Replacement, Bottom Case: step 1, image 2 of 2

    • Using the Torx T5 screwdriver, remove the eight 8 mm screws on the bottom case of the laptop.

    • Pry up one corner of the bottom case with a spudger.

    • Work the spudger around the edges, making your way towards the bottom of the laptop.

    • Remove the bottom case.

    • Remove the tape outlined in red.

    • The tape can tear easily.

    • Remove the four 3 mm screws using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

    • Remove the heat sink from the laptop.
