Introduction

Use this guide to replace a damaged or faulty display assembly in your HP ProBook 640 G4 laptop.

The display assembly includes the screen, hinges, and cables. If your screen is cracked, flickering, showing discoloration, or not displaying anything, the display assembly may need to be replaced.

Before starting, try connecting your laptop to an external monitor to confirm the issue isn’t related to software or graphics.

Make sure to power off your laptop and disconnect it from any power source before beginning the repair.

What you need

  1. HP ProBook 640 G4 Display Assembly Replacement, Display Assembly: step 1, image 1 of 1

    • Insert an opening tool into the black thin cover on the outside to remove the display bezel.

    • Lift the bezel and remove it to access the screen.

    • Remove the four 3.4 mm screws using a Phillips #000 screwdriver.

    • Lift and remove the display screen.

    • Unhook the display screen that is attached with a small hook.
