HP Pavilion DM4 Hard Drive Replacement

What you need

    • Unlock and remove the battery pack.

    • Unscrew the hidden screws covered by the battery pack and remove the panel to find more hidden screws.

    • Unscrew the hidden screws in order to remove the hard drive cover.

    Screws were not removable on my machine. So, I would replace the word “remove” with “loosen” to avoid chance for cross-threading. otherwise, these directions were EXCELLENT.

    • Pull out the tab to remove the hard drive.

    • Take the hard drive out and pull the connector from it.

    • In order to disconnect the hard drive, grab the hard drive and cord then gently pull the hard drive away from the cord.

    • Replace the hard drive.

    • Do not take apart the hard drive if you want it to run anything at all!

    One more thing here is that you have to remove four screws that attach the little metal/plastic sleeve to the actual drive, and then slide the old drive out of the sleeve and the new one back in. Thanks for the guide.

I need to replace the hard drive and was wondering how large can the DM4 handle. It is currently 578Gb and it would be great for 1 or 2 TB. Thanks
