HP Elitebook Folio 9470m Trackpad Replacement

What you need

  1. HP Elitebook Folio 9470m Trackpad Replacement, Trackpad: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Flip laptop over.

    • In the center of the laptop slide the black piece back till it turns red indicating it is unlocked and the battery can be removed.

    • Remove the 2 Phillips head screws that attach the cover on the left.

    • Remove the 4 Phillips screws holding the hard drive in place

    • Remove by gently prying and pulling up on the tab and out.

    • Remove the 3 Phillips head screws holding the back plate in.

    • Gently pull up and out to remove plate.

    • Remove all eighteen screws marked M2x3 and M2x5.

    • Remove the remaining four Phillips head screws.

    • Slowly pry and lift the frame up while checking for connected wires and ribbons that may be obstructing it.

    • Detach ribbon wires by gently lifting the grey flap and pulling them out.

    • Do not pull hard on the wires.

    • Push the track pad from the bottom and it should come right out.

Please make sure the Track Pad is not "turned off:" (HP Folio has a Track Pad on/off feature by double-tap in upper left hand corner)

1) Double tap the upper left corner of the Track Pad by the Amber LED

2a) If the LED is "On" then the Track Pad is "Off"

2b) If the LED is "Off" then the Track Pad is "On"
