Introduction
Perhaps the keyboard has been damaged or the layout is wrong?
In that case you need to replace the top cover.
What you need
-
-
Flip the notebook.
-
Unscrew the screws.
-
Open the base enclosure using a plastic wedge (a credit card might also work). Follow the direction of the green arrows.
-
-
-
Detach the battery using a plastic spudger.
-
Unscrew the battery screws. Be aware not to damage the speaker cables.
-
Now remove the CMOS battery. Beware: it is glued to the enclosure. So remove with care.
-
Remove the SIM slot.
-
Now detach all connections with the mother board (using a plastic spudger). Unscrew the black (mostly flat) screws until the mother board is loose.
-
Put the Display Cables to the top side. In that way the cables aren't damaged when removing the top cover.
-
Remove the loose plastic parts on the motherboard.
-
-
-
-
Detach the mother board.
-
Unscrew all the remaining components from the top cover.
-
Unscrew the black screws in the top corners until you can separate the top cover and the display.
-
-
-
Attach the new Top Cover.
-
Follow the previous steps in reverse order.
-
Beware when closing the Base Enclosure: slide it towards the front at a 30 degree angle until it snaps in place. Screw everything back together. In this way you prevent an open gap at the front side.
-
To replace the top cover/keyboard, the device needs to be completely disassembled. That takes time but is not that difficult.
