Introduction

Replacing the RAM to an HP Compaq NC6120 is an effective way to maximize the computer's running speed. It's a simple replacement, as HP made the compartment easily accessible and user-friendly. If the computer is running slowly, and you know that no parts are broken, replacing the RAM is one of the first steps that should be done to make your computer run faster.

Locate the back plastic casing covering RAM chip.
  • Locate the back plastic casing covering RAM chip.

    • Find the plastic casing, located in the middle of the underside of the laptop.

Remove the back plastic casing covering the RAM chip. Unscrew and remove the M2 screw with a #1 Phillips Head Screwdriver.
  • Remove the back plastic casing covering the RAM chip.

    • Unscrew and remove the M2 screw with a #1 Phillips Head Screwdriver.

    • Remove the plastic casing (should be free at this point).

Remove the RAM chip from underneath the casing. It should easily pop out. Remove the RAM chip from underneath the casing. It should easily pop out. Remove the RAM chip from underneath the casing. It should easily pop out.
