The project is to take out a defected RAM that is already in the laptop and install a new, working RAM in its place. A person will need to know how to replace the RAM of the laptop, so the laptop can be preserved and reduce the amount of e-waste. The RAM is a hardware component of a computer that stores memory, so the data can be retrieved quickly from the processor. The RAM of laptops created by different companies will have different sizes and colors, but the modules of RAM generally look like a long, rectangular hardware board with integrated chips lined across it.

    • Make sure to power off the laptop and unplug it from the power source.

    • Unplug the USB charger cable.

    • Remove the single screw using the Phillips #0 screwdriver.

    • Remove the RAM access door.

To reassemble your device, screw the opening of the RAM back in its spot and reconnect battery
