What you need

  1. Fujitsu Lifebook E556 Keyboard Replacement, Removing Battery: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Remove battery:

    • 1. Pull down and hold that little tab.

    • 2. Move left that slider.

    • 3. Pull up to remove battery from laptop.

    • Remove screws marked in white and red circles.

    • Note: those in red circles are holding the keyboard and are different than those in white circles. Don't mix them!

    • Put a plastic tool (plastic card, spudger or guitar pick) between that bar and the rest of case (in places marked by arrows). It's holding only on clips- gentle pry until it breaks free.

    • When either of sides are free, pry that tab from behind (area marked by red rectangle, but from the back of the laptop - image very difficult to take).

    • Now, keyboard can be lifted, but it still connected to the motherboard. Gently pull it up.

    • When in horizontal position, you will see keyboard connector on the left. Pull the tabs out (1) then pull the flex cable out too (2).

    • Keyboard is now free.
