Dyson V15 Detect Filter Cleaning

Video Guide
This guide was transcribed from a YouTube video.

What you need

    • Turn off the Dyson V15 Detect and disconnect it from the charger.

    • Keep water away from the vacuum body, motor area, battery, and charging contacts.

    • Wash only the removable filter, using cold water.

    • Do not reinstall a damp filter; moisture can damage the vacuum.

    • Inspect the filter media, housing, and seal for tears, cracks, or deformation.

    • Reuse the filter if it is intact and cleaning restores normal performance.

    • Replace the filter if it is damaged, worn, or no longer cleans effectively.

    • A second clean, completely dry filter can be used while the washed filter dries.

    • Keep the foam element facing down and run cold water over its inside and outside.

    • Gently squeeze only the foam element to expel dirt, and continue until the water runs clear.

    • Wash the outside of the filter, fill it with cold water, cover the openings with your hands, and shake it gently.

    • Repeat the wash until the water runs clear.

    • Gently shake out excess water and leave the filter to drain with the foam element facing up.

    • Leave the filter in a dry area with good airflow for at least 24 hours.

    • The filter must be completely dry before reinstallation.

    • Do not use a tumble dryer, oven, microwave, heater, or open flame to speed drying.

    • If the filter still feels damp after 24 hours, let it dry longer.

    • Insert the completely dry filter into the top of the Dyson V15 Detect.

    • Turn the filter clockwise until it clicks into place.

    • Check that the filter sits snugly in the vacuum body.

    • Replace a filter that doesn't fit correctly instead of forcing it into place.

    • Wash the filter at least once a month to help maintain suction.

    • Wash it more often after vacuuming fine dust or using Boost mode frequently.

    • Clean the filter when the vacuum displays a filter-wash alert or airflow drops.

    • Replace the filter if it is damaged, worn, or cleaning no longer restores performance.

Conclusion

After the completely dry filter is locked in place, run the vacuum briefly and check that airflow has improved. If the problem continues, ask the Dyson V15 Detect Answers community for help.
